How Much Time is Required of Chamber Staff?
Virtually none. All you do is copy, paste, and send an email.
What’s the Cost?
There is none. This is the same webinar people have paid $199 to attend for years. Since Covid-19 put in-person events on hold, Glenn is giving it to chambers for free to help keep members engaged while everything is shut down. (See comments from chamber execs below).
Why Are You Doing This for Free?
Because Glenn is a strong believer in Servant Leadership and Paying It Forward.

We partnered with Glenn Shepard and had 130 people participate. For our market, that was EXCEPTIONAL. We usually get 25-30 on average that attend. I think the SHRM CEUs helped drive attendance, for sure. I also think in our market we have some “disease fatigue” and they’re looking for professional development that’s applicable at all times. But what impressed me most was that before the webinar had ended, I was getting texts and emails from some of our members about how much they enjoyed it.

This was the first effortless event I’ve ever done. They sent me a Microsoft Word document that I copied and sent in Outlook. It took me less time than it takes to make iced tea, and the registrations came rolling in immediately. I didn’t have to do any work because Glenn’s staff did it all for me and people were thanking me afterward. Spectacular!

In nine years in chamber work, I’ve never seen a time when it was more important for chambers to find more ways to keep members engaged and informed than it is now. Glenn Shepard understands this better than most. It took us just a few minutes to set up his webinar and BAM!! We got 109 registrations. Afterward, I received this from a dentist’s office: “This webinar was EXTREMELY powerful and helpful and one of the best I ever attended. You summarized so much in such a short time. Loved it! Let me know if you have any more coming. I am sold!” This was just one of over 20 positive testimonials I received immediately following the event.

Glenn’s team provided all the marketing, 93 people signed up, and it didn’t cost us anything. Afterward, I immediately started getting emails from people thanking me. The GM of a Zaxby’s wrote “Just wanted to thank you for providing the webinar today. It offered great tips that will help me personally as well as when training new managers and team members to be better leaders. I’m very proud to be a part of the Chamber.” Chambers need to do more of this right now to keep people engaged during such unusual times.

We’re a small chamber and had 96 people attend Glenn Shepard’s webinar. I received this from an area supervisor for McDonald’s: “I LOVE Glenn’s concepts on managing and responding to employees! I would like to go through this with my teams.” As chambers work harder than ever to show the value of membership during these unusual times, this is the kind of high-level training we all need to provide more of.

I’ve been in chamber work for 40 years and have never seen anything as easy and as effective as this. We’re a 550+ member chamber in a small town in Illinois and had 112 people attend. We even had one company in Maryland attend. It cost us nothing, took us less than 4 minutes to set up, and Glenn’s team took it from there. Everything should be this easy.

The success of any business – including nonprofits – is in direct proportion to how good they are at marketing. Everyone knows a pink ribbon represents Breast Cancer Awareness. But if you ask what a chamber does, half can’t tell you. Our industry needs to do a better job of educating small businesses on all the ways we serve them. No one in the entire U.S. does a better job at this than Glenn Shepard. We’ve held Zoom calls with Senator Ted Cruz, Senator John Cornyn, Congressman John Carter, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar, and Brigadier General Darren Werner. But the highest turnout by far was for Glenn Shepard’s webinar.

This is the most unbelievable thing I’ve ever seen. We sent out one eblast and had 60 people attend. All we had to do was copy and paste. It literally took us three minutes.

Glenn has been a mentor of mine since I was at the Panama City Beach chamber. At a 2019 Florida chamber execs conference, he spoke about keeping our chambers relevant, valid, and evolving regardless of circumstances, taking advantage of opportunities to show the community what the chamber brings to the table, and that it can be counted on and trusted as the strongest supporter of their business future. I wrote it down and acted on it. I had barely begun as CEO of this chamber in Georgia in 2020 when Covid19 shut down in-person events. We immediately hosted one of Glenn’s webinars. It cost us nothing, 106 people attended, and folks were thanking me afterward.

We hosted Glenn’s in-person seminar in March and 123 people registered. After COVID-19 shut down in-person events, we hosted his webinar in May and another 141 registered. Here’s what the training director of Goodwill wrote: “In a time when we are all struggling to get back to work as the country emerges slowly from the COVID-19 lockdown, this was perfectly timed. I was able to get my entire Retail Team on the webinar before we begin reopening our stores. I have had fantastic feedback from my store managers who attended and very much appreciate the opportunity to utilize this important training offered through our Chamber. This was a fabulous chance to give everyone the same tools at the same time so I can continue to coach and guide them through this time of uncertainty.” If your chamber is sincere about serving your business community and you haven’t yet held a Glenn Shepard webinar or seminar, you really need to.

My board chair does the marketing and public relations for our local long term care facility. The admissions staff falls within her area of responsibility as well. She was so impressed by your webinar with the Valparaiso Niceville Chamber today that she registered for the one you’re doing for the Destin Area Chamber tomorrow and plans to feature it on the big screen during their managers meeting. They have 15 managers and the facility administrator will be there as well. Every business and industry must occasionally encounter the challenges of difficult customers and employees, so your carefully thought out words and real life examples are adaptable universally. Thank you for offering this valuable program at no charge! The chamber industry needs more of what you do.

As a former Chamber Exec who is now Executive Director of a statewide manufacturing association, I’m painfully aware of how important it is for organizations like ours to keep finding new ways to provide value to our members if we want them to keep renewing – especially in these unusual times. Glenn Shepard’s webinar was the fastest and easiest way I’ve found to do that. It took one of my staff members less than 10 minutes to set up, and his staff took it from there. As soon as the webinar was over, my members were emailing me how awesome it was. If you run any kind of membership organization that serves businesses of any type, you really, really need to host a Glenn Shepard webinar.

I first became acquainted with Glenn through his job postings when I was exploring the chamber industry. After finding my first President/CEO role through Glenn I had the pleasure of meeting him at one of his seminars. Now having run two chambers in the Los Angeles area and an economic development agency in the San Diego area, I believe strongly in supporting our members with programs like Glenn’s. The seminar was a tremendous success here at the EDC for two reasons. One, attendees ran the full gamut, from city government to insurance agencies to a local college to staffing to real estate to insurance, and the list goes on. Two, it has been my experience that when people are unhappy, they always let you know. But when they’re happy, you rarely hear from them. I was DELUGED with emails from people thanking me for holding this webinar. This shows how much this kind of program is needed in the business community. If you head up a chamber or economic development agency and are serious about serving your members, this is a great way to do it.

How can you bring New York City to Kentucky? You get Glenn Shepard to do it for you, that’s how. After hearing him speak at the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives conference eight years ago, I wanted to bring him to Maysville but it wasn’t financially feasible. So when he offered to do a webinar for us, I jumped at the opportunity. He told me he had already paid a Madison Avenue advertising agency in NYC big bucks to write the marketing material so we wouldn’t have to do anything but copy and paste, and promised me we’d be blown away by the results. I thought “Yeah, right, in this market?” But he was right. I was AMAZED by three things: (1.) It really was as easy as he said it would be. (2.) The number of people who signed up (93) was phenomenal. (3.) I kept getting pounded by emails from my members afterward, telling me how much they loved it and thanking me for doing it. But the most amazing part was that it only took 3 minutes of my time to set up, and didn’t cost us anything. AMAZING!! Truly AMAZING!!4

The Greenwood SC Chamber of Commerce has been a Glenn Shepard fan ever since he spoke at the Carolinas Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives annual leadership conference in Myrtle Beach. But this was our first “touchless” event. His company provided all the marketing, processed the registrations, and handled the broadcast. It was the fastest and easiest thing we’ve ever done in all our years in chamber work. And like magic, 137 people signed up. As chambers struggle to innovate, adapt, and stay relevant in this rapidly changing business climate, more of this is the kind of thing is needed.

It sure was nice to have something to share with members that wasn’t solely focused on COVID-19. It is also nice to see business members’ appreciation. These last few months have been a beat down, and while we have been open the entire time, the focus was so far from our normal and constantly moving, that it was draining. Just doing something like this webinar, that is “normal”, helps us realize we are moving forward. Thank you again – we appreciated the opportunity you shared with us!

The success of an event can’t just be measured by how many people participate. It must also be measured by how impactful the event is for members. My best barometer for that is how many people take time to thank us, which is why Glenn’s webinars are so different. After hosting his program, one member after another after another kept emailing and thanking me for it. The funny part is that we hardly had to do anything. It took one of staff members only a few minutes to copy and paste, and then it was just “Set it and Forget It”.

This testimonial from one of my members, says it all about Glenn Shepard’s webinar:
Greetings, Lauren –
I know I text you at the conclusion of the seminar to express my appreciation and satisfaction. However, I did want to follow-up more formally to communicate how much I really enjoyed the instruction and how relevant I believe it is to business environments of all kinds.
Your and the Chamber’s efforts in making the special arrangements to present this popular and accredited webinar to us members speaks volumes about the commitment to our success, both individually and collectively.
Should you decide to host another in the future, please know you may count me in!
Again, my sincerest appreciation and gratitude for the opportunity.

More FAQ’S
How Does This Work?
There is no cost to the chamber or to chamber members. We provide everything. You just copy and paste an email.
How Long Are Your Webinars?
45 minutes
Why Are You Doing This for Free?
Because Glenn is a strong believer in Servant Leadership and Paying It Forward. Chambers have been great partners for our business for many years. Since Covid-19 put live in-person events on hold, this is a way to help chambers keep members engaged from a distance.
Why Is Your Webinar Attendance So Much Higher Than Everyone Else’s?
Because we already paid a Madison Avenue ad agency thousands of dollars to write very effective marketing for our paid webinars. While everything is shut down, we’re giving chambers access to that marketing for free.
Are Your Webinars Accredited?
Yes, by HRCI and SHRM.
How Much Time and Work is Required of the Chamber?
Less than 5 minutes. All you do is copy and paste an email. It takes less time than it took to read this webpage.
